What it is
What you actually do.
You respond to a prompt (often agree/disagree, advantages/disadvantages, or problem/solution) by typing an essay on the computer within the official time and word expectations.
The essay is relatively short compared with many university assignments. Clarity, on-topic development, and controlled language outperform ornate but error-heavy prose.
Spellcheck behavior and exact limits are defined by the test software and Pearson rules; practice under the same constraints you will see on test day.

How to do it well
The moves that hold up.
Under the clock, these are the habits that keep you calm and on task.
Spend 2–3 minutes planning: thesis + two reasons + one example each + closing line.
Use four blocks: introduction, body 1, body 2, conclusion. Keep paragraphs visible with line breaks.
State your position early; do not hide the thesis until the end.
Develop reasons with explanation, not only slogans; one concrete example per body is enough.
Prefer accurate mid-level vocabulary over rare words you might misspell.
Watch the clock: aim to finish drafting with ~2 minutes for proofreading.
Fix high-impact errors first: subject–verb agreement, verb tense, articles, sentence fragments.
